My full service oil dealer clients have had a challenging time prospecting to new homebuyers where the main concern is the cost of fuel. The oil discounters usually win when service is secondary.

But we found a way to get new customers, and it was through the basement door! We mailed highly personalized postcards to homeowners selling new high effeciency oil furnaces so people could burn their oil more efficiently and save money right away.

An oil dealer in Canton did about $80,000 in new equipment business and sold 12 new oil accounts to boot. The campaign only cost $7,000 and was deemed a success. We are planning another postcard mailing soon.
